Basil sadly left us on October 25th 2014
Basil was a well known character and much loved on the Scottish Show scene
His sound construction and flawless movement captured the eye of many a judge and he was consistently in the major awards of the Gundog Group and Best in Show line-ups
All credit to his owner Julie who traveled the length and breadth of the UK mainly by public transport to get to the shows. We are so very proud of their achievements
Basil became a Newly Crowned Show Champion in 2012
He had some stunning wins for his first time Spinone owner Julie Carruthers who continued to go from strength to strength with her boy
Amongst his many wins, at the Scottish Kennel Club Championship in August 2009 Basil won the Post Graduate Dog Class and took the Res Challenge Certificate under Breed Specialist Judge Ruth Roberts
His amazing run of success continued in 2010 where he won many of his championship classes and became a serious contender with our other mature boys Rude Boy and Likely Lad for the CC's. He also added a bundle of Reserve CC's to his credit. He had a wealth of Open Show Best of Breed and Group wins to add to his championship show success.
2011 was another great year and Basil gained his first two CC's from Breed Specialist Judges Ruth Roberts and Chris Bexon. His crowning CC was awarded by another Breed Specialist Judge Mick Brind at Manchester Championship Show in January 2012.
He also won his class under Italian Expert Dr Mentasti at the ISCGB Championship Breed Club Show in 2010
